Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 THERE IS A 20% SERVICE CHARGE. That being said, the service and ambiance live up to the charge. This place is one of the best, if not THE BEST Californian food I've had. The menu is constantly rotating to account for the freshest, in-season produce. I came here with my Asian parents, who typically prefer Chinese cuisine. Even they were astounded by the complex flavor profile in each dish.

[REVIEW WRITTEN: 05 Jul 2024] Rad little spot to hit up, haven't been to Venice in a minute. It was a great lil' stretch of businesses and then hit up the beach. Great SoCal vibes! First time visiting this place and needed to make our way down the menu. At least one item from each section was selected. I def would make it back to this place, I NEED to try the bourbon bread pudding. The Deets: + TONS of veggie options, epic. +/- Beer and wine served ONLY. I'd want to pair a couple of dishes with different libations, but wine did the trick. + Seasonal items are on point and very, very fresh. +/- Service was slow, not sure if it was intended or not. Appreciate it, but be aware if you had a time limit.

My friends were going to be in town briefly for a layover at LAX and wanted to meet for dinner. I wanted to find something nearby and accessible since they are not particularly adventurous foodies like myself. When I called to make a reservation the day before, they were so helpful and friendly. Gjelina was a good choice. New American dishes with familiar options, seafood and even pizza. (!) We started with a few oysters and some charcuterie. Both excellent. My friends shared pizza and salad and were very pleased. My son had bolognese orchiette (?) pasta with meat sauce. Very nice. I had the duck with charred Bok Choy and currants. What a perfect combination of fatty, charred and slightly sweet flavors. Just great. We didn't have time for dessert unfortunately. I'm looking forward to coming here again and trying everything.
